Consolidated Bus Transit is looking for new experienced and qualified team members to join our paratransit dispatch team! Effective and continuous communication is paramount within our operations and dispatch team, allowing us to provide exceptional service.

Dispatch positions may be intimidating because of the responsibilities they hold, but we offer the necessary training to ensure you're well qualified for the tasks ahead. Once comfortable enough to handle daily tasks and assignments, you will be well on your way to becoming apart of the most reliable dispatchers in the Access-A-Ride paratransit industry. Shift Details

  • 10 hour working shifts
  • 4 or 5 days a week
  • Weekends shifts are required

Requirements

  • 1-2 years dispatch experience (paratransit experience a plus)
  • Can pass mandated MTA drug screen test
  • Computer literate (must know basic functions of operating a computer)
  • Team oriented

Responsibilities

  • Ability to work in a face paced environment
  • Willing to be coach-able, retain, and apply information given by dispatch supervisors
  • Ability to multi-task dispatch responsibilities and prioritize assignments within the fast paced working environment
  • Regularly updating route assignments to determine if drivers are ahead of schedule and on-time for passenger pick-ups and drop-offs
  • Coordinate & assist with dispatch team to solve daily problematic routing assignments
  • Efficiently direct drivers when requesting assistance to and from passenger pick-up and drop-off locations
  • Effectively and respectfully communicate with driver and dispatch team
  • Communicate with dispatch supervisor to ensure compliance with company procedures and operations
  • Efficiently and effectively communicate information with MTA employees to ensure passengers receive proper and accurate updates on status of their ride
  • Data entry skills required (inputting information in system)
  • Proper phone and interpersonal etiquette
  • Conflict resolution skills
